The hills are alive with the sound of Salzburg, Austria! This Austrian city is famous for many things, one of them being the place where the classic Julie Andrews musical "The Sound Of Music" was filmed. If you’re a fan of the movie, there are tours available that take you to all the iconic places as seen in the film, including Mirabell Gardens, Schloss Leopoldskron, and the wedding church at Mondsee.

Salzburg was also once called home by Mozart, who was born in the city. The house where he was born in the mid-eighteenth century is now a museum that you can visit to learn more about this famous classical composer.

Instagram addicts will have loads of image fodder here, as Salzburg is one of the most picturesque cities in Europe. Apart from its natural beauty (it boasts mesmerizing landscapes, rivers, parks, and the nearby Bavarian mountains), the buildings are stunning beyond measure.

Get a picture in front of the Salzburg Fortress, then visit it to learn the history of the magnificent structure as well as to experience an amazing view of the city from its high vantage point. Getting around is pretty easy. Local buses service the city well and Salzburg’s main train station makes onward travel to your next European destination a breeze.
