The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious. The reason for only a 4 star as oppose to 5 was the spreads on the beds were very old and dingy looking. The bathrooms, while clean, did not have a place to place toiletries while taking a shower. The sheets were clean and fresh, however. The Kitchen and dining room were clean with plenty of available dishes for personal use. I like that they had a pay phone geared toward international calls. It was the only facility that we stayed at that had one.

We were cheated

you can find a B&B three stars in Killarney for less than fifty euros these days -- large room, private bathroom en suite, irish breakfast. in this hostel, we paid fifty four for a pseudo private room -- bunk beds, no private bathroom, and you have to pay extras for towels, for breakfast (more than ten euros) ... In total sixty eight euros. Completely crazy -- the three star hotel in Leenane charged 69. my quotation would be below zero. This quotation is related to private rooms.

I love this hostel! The people there are all so lovely! It's really homey, within an hour i felt like i lived there! It's a really cool building too!

We went to this hostel twice and the second time we stayed for 2 months! Most of the staff are friendly, and the rooms and bathrooms are clean. There is a full size kitchen that can serve a small army. Unfortunately it is quite a walk from town 30 minutes. Probably the best way there is by taxi or thumb. The woods behind the mansion are great. The price is one of, if not the lowest in Killarney. When we left they didn't have Internet but they were planning on having it by this summer.

I gave this an average rating because the advantages and disadvantages equal out. We stayed in a 12-bed dorm that would be a little bother if full, but the room was still huge and, compared to other hostels we stayed at, could be called spacious. It has a disadvantage of being a ways outside of town. A bus, car, or hitchhiking is a must to get there, but the bus does stop at the end of the road. Nice and quiet for a good night's sleep and it is out in nature, not in the city. Common rooms are big and they serve meals there also. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hope this helps someone.
