Very clean, friendly
This is a very well run place, super clean and easy access to Walmart, airport and not a bad distance to town.
ENJOYED MY STAY
I would highly recommend this hostel if you are looking for a nice, affordable, quiet, comfy, clean and well managed place to crash while in town. Joe was very helpful despite me peppering him with questions all the time. Very convenient access to a Walmart two blocks away as well as to the bus lines & you can buy an all day bus pass on the bus if you are a cheapie like me. If I am ever back in Anchorage this is where I will stay.
Great place -- friendly, helpful, clean and safe, great value.
We stayed here at the end of our trip and it was the perfect place to be based to explore Anchorage. The rooms are basic but have everything you need, the owner is really helpful and friendly, it would be a good place to stay if you were traveling on your own. We really enjoyed our stay and it was very good value for money.
Friendly, clean, safe
This was a great hostel! The workers were helpful and considerate and I felt quite safe.
Clean room and bed
I booked a place for a shared dorm but it was like a private room for me because I was the only one staying in the room. The beds are very comfortable and clean. The room is very clean and comes with Wifi too. Excellent. Highly recommended.
Very good owner and is a clean, safe place to stay; great kitchen too!
I stayed there in april of 2009 for almost a month. Joseph the owner and operator is good to his guests and he does clean the place regularly. I stayed in a private room and i would highly recommend staying there again. I will be returning back to anchorage alaska again and will stay there any time.
Low Rent and Safe
This place gets the job done if you need a low dollar place to stay while in town. The rooms are barely furnished with an old tube type TV a mattress on a frame. No table and chair of any kind and zero art. The shared bathrooms are the same. No place to place your clothes while you shower except the back of the toilet. Some do have a hook but that's it. There is absolutely no place to set your stuff while you brush your teeth and shave, except that toilet. This overall lack of minimal furniture is the normal for this operation and gives you a feeling that they must be in it for maximum profit. Also there is no comfortable chairs in the common room, I guess they cost to much to install and may cut into the profit margin for the owners. A large portion of the trim around the doors is missing and doors don't close correctly and have large gaps you can see and here through. I contribute this to the armature work of the owner trying to do remodel on his own but would rather sit in his room and play video games then finish the work. Oh and don't expect anyone to clean your room or clean sheets your on your own and can wash them for coins in the laundry downstairs. They do kick in some laundry soap but there is no rod to hang your stuff on as you pull your stuff out, or a table. Must be that minimal input mentality again. There are a lot of transient types on there way to Walmart in the area. I stayed for a long time due to the good price. Then they got greedy and raised the price for summer.
Pleasant stay for first timer
I had never stayed at a hostel before, so I was a little nervous about how the experience would turn out. Arctic Adventure provided me with a pleasant first impression. The hostel provided a shuttle from the airport. The place was always clean. Comfortable beds. Good location. I would definitely recommend this hostel.
