Enso Hostel is a good budget hostel in a convenient location, just minutes from the metro and a popular bar and restaurant area (Calle Seventy or Seventy Street). It offers clean bunk beds, decent Wi-Fi, and colourful communal areas.
The Location
Enso Hostel is conveniently located within a few minutes' walk of Estadio metro station. It is easy to spot as the most colourful building on the street! The street is usually fairly calm, but the busy and bustling Seventy Street is just minutes away, offering a large choice of bars, shops, and cafes. A large public sports area is also close by, including the football stadium (so on match days the area gets extremely busy!).
This area (Laureles) is perfect for those who want to experience bars, restaurants, and nightlife with a more local feel (and price!) than the more popular tourist destination of El Poblado. Most people around here are locals, but there are enough tourists that you shouldn’t get stared at too much!
Rooms and Bathrooms
There are several dorm rooms with four to six beds. A private room is available. Dorms have clean sheets and fairly comfortable bunk beds. Free clean towels are available (although a deposit is required). Small lockers are available. Some dorm rooms may be problematic for light-sleepers. The downstairs (four-bed) dorm is right next to the kitchen, which can get noisy in the mornings. Some of the upstairs dorms do not have closing doors.
There is a communal toilet downstairs and a few communal bathrooms upstairs (not many for the size of the hostel, but we had no problem finding a free bathroom during low season). The bathrooms are cleaned daily and are in good condition.
Common Spaces
Common spaces are bright, colourful, and clean. The main communal area is a large indoor courtyard with comfy seating, tables, coffee and tea facilities, and plenty of charging sockets. The vibe is usually quite chilled in the day, with guests relaxing on the comfy seating and using the Wi-Fi. Evenings can sometimes get more lively depending on the group of guests and the season (in low season, the hostel can be fairly empty).
There is a small communal kitchen. Guests can choose from a few breakfast options (breakfast is included). There is a twenty-four-hour reception offering laundry service, a computer for guest use, and a small range of snacks and refreshments. At the time of writing, there is a friendly and energetic dog living in the hostel, who spends most of his time sitting in the reception area, but could occasionally be heard barking loudly!
Summary
Located within a few minutes' walk of the metro, sports stadium, and Seventy Street, this hostel is perfect for both sightseeing and experiencing local restaurants and nightlife. The facilities are clean and in good condition. There is usually a relaxed atmosphere inside the hostel, although the proximity to Seventy Street would also appeal to those who want to go out partying.
