We are located in Punta Ballena, landform located on Maldonado (east of Uruguay), which is integrated to the urban and tourism development in Punta del Este, being distant only 18 km from it and 115 km from Montevideo (Uruguay's capital).
The area was originally purchased by businessman Antonio Lussich, heir of the first shipping company lighterage, salvage trailers of South America, who began in 1897 to afforest these lands with copies of the 5 continents. Currently 192 of the 1800 acres that he owned inthe past conforms today the Arboretum Lussich National Park, being it one of the artificial forest reserves with greater diversity of imported and locally naturalized species in the world.
We are only 200 meters away of the park which is accessed perfectly walking and where is shown Antonio Lussich's old house with furniture, personal items and a collection of photos showing the evolution of afforestation in the early years. It can also be seen a collection of tiles donated by architect Artucio Urioste which is made up of parts used in the architecture of the Rio de la Plata and is a very representative sample of the French production of the nineteenth century.
Accompanying the beauty of the place, we are 300 meters away from the unrivaled Solanas beach, visited by its orientation to the west, overlooking the mountains, calm waters and its large expanses of fine sand.
In the opposite direction, 300 meters to Punta del Este, at the top of Punta Ballena, it's located one of the most beautiful vantage points from which to enjoy the sunset. And a few meters away of this, is an access to the scenic route that takes you to the Peninsula de la Ballena through a winding road about 2.5 km, which provides a beautiful show of hills, beaches and forest ending in an esplanade facing the sea. This is the only point where the two islands near Punta del Este are displayed: Gorriti on the Mansa beach and De Lobos on the Brava beach.
On this journey, about 500 meters before reaching the end, stands Casa Pueblo, the house of the Sun, immortal work of Uruguayan artist Carlos Páez Vilaró.
We give you the opportunity to enjoy the peace of this natural paradise in our establishment, a classic hostel especially built to be it, easy access to services, supermarket, 500 meters, bus station, 700 meters, and the Laguna del Sauce International Airport 3 km away.
