Bonito is a city in Brazil that is known for its rivers. They are supposed to be the clearest in the country, filled with many fish with which to see and go swimming. Of course, these rivers are on private property, so you may want to get a guided tour to enter them. Filled with hostels, places to see, things to do, and the friendliest people in all of Brazil, Bonito is definitely a great place to visit.
Hostels are present inside and outside the main city and in the suburbs. Most of the hostels in and around Bonita are cheap and easy to find. The staff of the hostels are friendly, welcoming, and more than capable of guiding you to the best tourist destinations in the city. Other places to stay include farmhouses and homestays, along with proper hotels and residencies.
A good place to start your visit is by embarking on the Rio Sucuri tour. It is one of the most popular activities among tourists and residents alike. The tour takes you just outside of town and includes snorkeling, boating, and a buffet lunch. You start off in a farmhouse and proceed to engage in some fun water-based activities with a group of eight.
If you are not in the mood to go swimming, you can stroll through the forest by the Mimosa River instead. This forest has eight waterfalls of differing sizes, along with natural pools, caves, lookout points, and diving boards that lead into watering holes. The tour of this riverside forest starts inside Bonito, goes through the forest, and continues all the way up to the hills.
Last, but not least, is the unguided Balneario Municipal. This is located about six kilometers outside the main township and is a natural pool that can be reached by bicycle. You can also walk, as long as the weather is not too uncomfortable. It is cheap to enter, but you should not swim in the water – there are dorado fish in the pool that can bite you.
