This way, you can spend less time settling in, and more time making new friends in your chosen hostel. We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Wangary.

Mount Dutton Bay is a small settlement in South Australia. Less than fifty people permanently live in the coastal village, which belongs to the Lower Eyre Peninsula. This triangular peninsula is primarily agricultural, but also mining and tourism are on the rise. For example, it is possible to cage-dive with great white sharks off Eyre Peninsula. One of the biggest towns in the region is Port Lincoln. It is around fifty kilometres southeast of Mount Dutton Bay. It is considered to be the Seafood Capital of Australia and definitely worth a day-trip. In Mount Dutton Bay the jetty and the woolshed were built by pastoral pioneer Price Maurice. The whole site was used as a hub for the wool industry until mid-twentieth century.

If you want to stay in the area, you have a very limited amount of options. Mount Dutton Bay boasts some lodges, apartments, a campsite and a hostel. The hostel focuses on family groups and backpackers who want to explore the coastline of South Australia. The hostel also offers a fully self contained kitchen, a BBQ area and many more facilities.

Mount Dutton Bay Woolshed Museum is listed on the South Australian Heristage Register. The museum puts on display hundreds of items depicting the local history, in which fishing, farming and shearing play a very important role. One of the most interesting items is the fully restored so-called Robinson double-box Wool press. Originally, the machine was developed and designed in England in the beginning of the nineteenth century. Coffin Bay National Park is one of the biggest attractions in the region. The national park is well-known for its remote coastal scenery, which is perfect to take pictures, to relax and to forget the hustle and bustle of a big city. The numerous bays and the coastline offer excellent opportunities for outdoor lovers. You can go sailing, fishing, kayaking, scuba diving and windsurfing.
