Nice place, good price
I enjoyed my stay at the Melrose House Hotel and Hostel. The staff was very nice and thoughtful of getting me what I need and taking care of things that I didn't even think of (paying the parking meter at 8 in the morning). It was clean and simple and good. Nice kitchen and fridge availability and comfortable place to eat and nice living room.
Great place & close to town center
We had a great stay in this hostel. It was close to the downtown and we really got to travel and enjoy Grand Junction on foot. The Hostel staff are great and the historic hotel is delightful. We will return if we get to Grand Junction again.

Hotel is bad and Staff is horrible
The Housekeeper Henry is horrible. I found out he lied to get the old Manager there David fired from his job. The housekeeper is always drunk and has urinated in front of other guests and doesn't do his job amongst other issues. The owner fired him then rehired him. What a horrible place. Poor David was kicked out and falsely accused based on false accusations from the housekeeper. Also, this place is known for drug addicts and homeless people staying there. Be careful!
Should not be rated as is too poor
The hotel house keeper attempted to improperly touch me while extremely intoxicated. I went back 3 weeks later and the house keeper was still employed and exposed himself while urinating in front of myself and other hotel guests ... to include children. This hotel has no historic feel and is rather a very nasty hotel by any country means.

Beautiful, friendly
My family of 5 (2adults, 3 kids) stayed at Melrose for 4 nights. It's a beautiful historical house, all inhabitants are friendly, as well as knowledgeable about local attractions such as Colorado National monument, rooms are affordable and clean. We can all recommend Melrose, also for families!

Stayed for one Sunday night. Made a reservation for a shared room in advance and was given the code for the front door since I arrived after 9pm. I let myself in and ended up having the room 11 to myself. Bed was comfy enough, and sheets were clean. It would have been a little less comfy if the other two beds had been occupied. I left early Monday morning and didn't see anyone. The shower could be cleaner, but it was ok. For $27.66, it was a good night. I only saw 2 other people the entire evening, but I didn't hang out in the common areas or kitchen at all. The hotel is not really "updated," everything is pretty dated. It felt like a hostel on it's last legs.
Clean, comfortable, safe
I have stayed here several times. Real reservations are given a code to get in the front door. The lobby is elegant, not seedy, just look at the photos rather than take my word for it. The place is very relaxing and homey.
Very beautiful, updated, nice people, and clean rooms
i stayed just recently november 2008 and i have to say that it was the prettiest hotel it had so much character to it and the managers michelle and jeremy i think were so nice and helpful. this place is nothing bad at all or dirty. i think it is a wonderful place grand junction. if i had to complain about anything would be that it was a little cold just because i guess i didnt listen on how to turn on the heater but other than that its great! they provide food for you to make and the other guests are extremely nice. well thanks for the wonderful stay and great company!
