Selina Bogota is a slick, modern, and lively hostel in Bogotá's La Candelaria area. Its facilities are exemplary, and though it feels a bit generic in design it's an amazing quality hostel.
The Location
Selina's location -- on a central street in the La Candelaria neighborhood of Bogotá -- is hard to beat. It's right by lots of shops, restaurants, and bars. Bogotá in general at night can be a little dangerous, and this area is no exception, but is probably safer than most.
The airport is a thirty- to sixty-minute taxi ride depending on traffic. There are local buses but there is no direct one from the airport. The bus terminals are a little closer by taxi or public transport. The Selina is a big brick building on the road, so it's easy to find.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The rooms are clean and open with very comfortable beds. Some bunk beds have three beds stacked on them; if you don't like heights, it may be useful to request a lower one in advance. All the beds have a plug socket and shelf next to it and there are lockers for valuables. The walls are quite thin, so you can sometimes hear the cinema room and kitchen from the dorms.
The bathrooms are very modern and well designed with wooden paneling and large sinks. The showers in the hostel are amazing with large fixed shower heads, warm water, and very strong water pressure. The bathrooms are kept very clean and there are numerous ones dotted around the hostel.
Common Spaces
The hostel has a wide array of common spaces depending on your mood. There is a restaurant located at the front of the hostel, which is by reception. The reception has baggage storage and lots of information about Bogotá.
There is a large, open courtyard that has heaters for the evening; there is plenty of seating in this area. There is a large, open-plan kitchen that has a long bench table next to it, which helps talking to new people. There is a library area with comfortable seating and power sockets. There is also a cinema room and yoga space. The hostel is quite spread out, but it's still easy to meet people.
Summary
The hostel has undeniably fantastic facilities and a lot of effort has gone into the hostel's design. It does come across as a chain hostel, but it has so much else to recommend it that it guarantees a comfortable stay.

• Selina Bogotá is less than 45 minutes from the city's main El Dorado International Airport (BOG) by car or regulated taxi. Another great option is the city's Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system called Transmilenio, which goes directly from the airport to the city center via El Dorado Avenue. Local buses are also available for dirt cheap, just check the schedule and buy tickets (smartcard) at the airport before boarding.
