Selina Medellin is a location of a big hostel chain famous all over Central and South America. In Colombia, there are Selina hostels in all the main cities and all have the same luxury design that's more similar to a hotel than a backpacker hostel.
The Location
It is located in El Poblado, the main area for backpackers in Medellín. It is up to the hill and it needs about twenty-five minutes' walking to reach the metro station. From there it’s another fifteen minutes on the metro to the bus station. The airport is only fifteen minutes away by taxi. Around the hostel, there are many bars and clubs, restaurants, and a small supermarket.
Rooms and Bathrooms
It offers both privates and dorms. Dorms go from six to twenty beds, all with bunk beds and a private bathroom. The quality of the mattresses is high and ensures a good sleep. Also, the rooms are spacious and there are lockers available (though you need to have your own padlock). Each bed has a plug for electricity and a personal light. Bathrooms are spacious and toilet and shower are together. Soap is available but there is no shampoo. There is hot water, even though sometimes it requires a bit of time. Cleanliness is something that's very important at Selina, and everything is on point.
Common Spaces
The hostel is very big, with eight floors. There are many areas where you can relax, work, or chill. There is a cinema room with Netflix; a large shared kitchen that guests can use free of charge (and the cooking equipment is of a good quality); and a large bar with sofas, tables, and hammocks all around.
Around the bar there is also a pool table and a table tennis table so guests can enjoy their time. There is also an area where you can work with the laptop, and there's another bar right at the entrance, next to the reception. The vibe here is great -- the bar plays music the whole day and it is fairly easy to meet fellow travelers. Activities are also organized (yoga, meditation, city tours) in order to spend some quality time and meet other people. It is not a party hostel but more a sociable place where you can hang out for a few days.
Summary
It is a really great hostel, and it attracts all type of customers. Facilities are well maintained and the hostel is big so you can find more sociable areas or more quiet ones, depending on the mood. The sleep is great, as the rooms are very well maintained and new.

• Hostel Selina Medelln is 45 minutes or less from the Jos Mara Crdova International Airport (MDE) by taxi or car, and we do offer parking. Save some cash by taking an official Aeropuerto bus (green and white, Aeropuerto on the windshield), departing every 15 minutes from just outside the airport. These take about an hour and get you to the Barrio San Diego area of the city center, where you can take public transportation to Selina.
