Flow Hostel is a friendly, practical, well-equipped, and clean hostel in a quiet but accessible area of town convenient for food and shopping.
The Location
Flow Hostel is convenient; it's less than a minute from the Great Market Hall (Nagy Vásárcsarnok), an impressive neo-Gothic market complete with local greengrocers and butchers as well as boasting a supermarket, a variety of local snack bars, and souvenirs. It is also less than fifteen minutes' walk from Kálvin tér, one of the stops served by the airport transit bus, and approximately the same distance to the infamous Gellért Gyógyfürdő Baths across the river. The hostel is however on the third floor of a stairs-only building, so people with accessibility needs should consider looking elsewhere.
Rooms and Bathrooms
This hostel is clean, well ventilated, and extremely functionally well designed. Upon arriving, each occupant is provided with a towel and lock for an under-the-bed locker. Both lower and upper bunks in this hostel come equipped with a light, shelf, a little inner bed locker, and a privacy curtain (which is unusual). Some of the pillows/bedding/sheets/towels are a little old and thin, but staff are quick to accommodate change requests if that is the case. Unlike some other hostels, Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the hostel.
Bathrooms are clean and well proportioned. There are more than enough bathrooms for the entire hostel, and during our stay there were no issues with access. The shower rooms have ample space to ensure that clothes stay dry whilst showering, and water temperature and pressure are both good. All shower and bathroom cubicles have individual doors, and all bathrooms come equipped with shaving plug sockets and hairdryers.
Common Spaces
There were three main large common areas (a kitchen, a sitting room, a TV/games room), and one smaller and quieter desk area more suitable for working, as well as a smoking balcony (which is not accessible later at night to ensure noise is kept to a minimum). The common areas are clean, well equipped, and good for large groups. The kitchen/dining area boasts two kitchen rows, well stocked with complimentary tea and coffee, and well equipped with cooking and eating utensils. There are also left-luggage facilities available.
Summary
This hostel is a great choice and is suitable for larger groups, lone travelers, and families alike.
