Get to know Vigo (no more "I wish I knew this before")

This section is dedicated to take away all your "I wish someone had told me that before I went!" experiences. This way, you can spend less time settling in, and more time making new friends in your chosen hostel. We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Vigo.

Vigo is a seaside city in Galicia that offers a great mixture of urban and traditional culture. In the morning, you can see how fishing boats arrive to the shore with fresh fish and oysters; in the afternoon you have plenty of cultural activities to keep you entertained, while in the evenings Vigo lives up to the fame that Spanish people have of being party people. On the weekends, you will have plenty of clubs working at full potential until the early hours of the morning.

You can find hostels in Vigo in the city center and peripheral areas. If you would like to experience the city vibes, the shopping, the nightlife, and the cultural programs (concerts, theater plays, exhibitions) you should stay in the city center, where you can potentially walk to most tourist attractions, from the modern areas and commercial center based around Urzaiz and Principe Streets, up to the "Casco Vello" (old town). If you rather enjoy the more rustic and laid back seaside, you can opt to travel to the outskirts, knowing that you would rely on bus transportation to get downtown, as this is, along with taxis, the only means of transportation in Vigo -- there is no metro or urban trains.

While in Vigo, immerse yourself into the Galician culture that is truly connected to the sea -- explore the "rias" taking boat trips up to Islas Cies, indulge in the fresh seafood ubiquitously available (oysters are the highlight of Vigo and the best can be found in the Mercado by the shore) as well as tapas and pinchos with regional products from Galicia, including homemade chorizos and other cuts.

Vigo is one of those cities where modern life meets Galician traditions and while traveling around, you will be able to experience both!
