La Molina, a mountain town in the comarca (county) of Cerdanya, Catalonia, is part of the bigger municipality of Alp, Cerdanya, the nearest town in the area. The town of Alp helps oversee the management and supervising of La Molina. Like the rest of Masella, Alp, and Cerdanya, La Molina is located on the Pyrenees, the mountain range that borders Spain and France.

For its high altitude, snow, and favorable slopes, La Molina is simply known as a ski resort and a popular tourist destination. Together with the town of Masella, it forms one big stretch of a winter and ski resort known as the Alp 2500 resort. Alp built the first chairlift in all of Spain in La Molina in early twentieth century. Since then, leisure activities and winter sports have mainly helped developed and formed the village of La Molina. Over a hundred years, more chairlifts has been added to La Molina; the original chairlift has been renovated and maintained regularly.

Throughout the year, especially during the winter season, La Molina hosts a number of winter activities and sports events -- mainly skiing and snowboarding. At the present, La Molina has several skiing and snowboarding schools that operate as information stations for tourists and help beginning enthusiasts get in their snow gear.

For its altitude, La Molina is also a good place for appreciating and observing nature. La Molina boasts a good place for studying cold weather conditions, the topography of the Pyrenees, including the natural resources like water, land, air, plants, and animals.

La Molina is very strict in implementing its safety regulations. La Molina requires every visitor and tourist to use the appropriate gear, materials, and outfit for every activity. The regulation of heat among individuals and its establishment is very important.

Like any large resort towns, hostels in La Molina have various areas for visitors and tourists to stay when not out in the snow. They have cafes and restaurants for gathering and eating. La Molina hostels are warm and cozy, built to protect people from the cold and withstand harsh weather conditions.
