Nazca is world famous for its geographical lines located a few kilometres away, which can best be seen by planes which take off at the airfield nearby. If you have made it to the tiny town of Nazca don’t spare any expense, go for a trip on the smallest plane you can. You will not regret it since it is a lifetime experience.
Once in your Nazca hostel, you will be able to save on food and lodging since you can find very cheap restaurants serving local dishes, and hostels in Nazca are a very good value. People in Nazca are extremely friendly, and will help you as much as they can.
If your Nazca hostel is in the center part of the town, you will be able to sample the good selection of exotic fruits on offer at the stalls of the local market. Many archaeological remains can be visited (don’t miss the cemetery with its mummies still in place), with or without a guide, as long as you have a good map and transportation. Otherwise, as usual, your hostel in Nazca will double as a travel agency and will book the tours you want. There is only a very small difference in price between organized tours where you share the guide with strangers, and hiring your own guide, so get together with other friendly backpackers and go for the freedom of defining your own trip directly with the guide.
