Get to know Pointe-a-la-Garde (no more "I wish I knew this before")

This section is dedicated to take away all your "I wish someone had told me that before I went!" experiences. This way, you can spend less time settling in, and more time making new friends in your chosen hostel. We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Pointe-a-la-Garde.

Pointe-a-la-Garde a small residential town spread out along the main highway. It has the closest hostels to the border via the bridge between Quebec and New Brunswick on the Quebec side. As far as the town itself goes, there is nothing much to see or do here and it's more of a place to stay overnight and then move on the next morning -- with the exception of the house here that was built as a castle (ask at your hostel for more information). The town as you drive through is quite aesthetically pleasing, with a lot of lush green trees and beautiful houses along the highway.

The hostels in Pointe-a-la-Garde are on the far eastern border of the town; you will find the convenience store, the liquor store, and fuel on the far west end of the town with several kilometers in between. Unless you have a car it would be very difficult to get around the town and to get to any amenities that you need. There is also no public bus service stopping here, making it only a good rest stop if you are in a car. If traveling with a car, there is a rest stop along the main highway in the centre of the town that also has information about the local region and the things to see and do here and in the neighbouring towns.
