Atmosphere
We've been to a fair few places around the world ourselves and know that one of the pleasures of travel isn't necessarily the over-hyped famous sights.
Coming across that special place to stay at the end of the day can be just as memorable or even more so. That's what we're endeavouring to create here. Trefin is an ex YHA youth hostel, closed by them at the end of the 2006 season and those who know it of old may be pleasantly surprised by the changes we've made so far.
There used to be only a kitchen area with nowhere comfortable to sit and now there's a cosy lounge to relax in in the evening as well as a refurbished and well equipped self catering kitchen and dining area.
There's now free internet access and wi-fi, toys and games for the kids and an extensive library. We've gone for character rather than what we feel to be an impersonal 'Travel Tavern' look. There are arty and quirky touches to the place as well as those little basics that can often be lacking in budget accommodation - hooks and shelves and towel rails where you need them, blinds at the windows, a cup of tea when you arrive…
All the bedrooms have been redecorated and recarpeted. We now have double beds in most rooms and there's breakfast using mostly organic and local and fair trade produce available also.
We aim to be green too. We're powered by 100% renewable energy and plant a tree for every booking made. We've also always appreciated accommodation on our travels that's been good value and we're endeavouring to keep our rates at what we hope are the most reasonable in Pembrokeshire.
Escape…
to our particularly wonderful, wild and rugged corner of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Our friendly characterful hostel and bed and breakfast offers comfortable and versatile accommodation at prices that are hard to beat.
We are situated in the centre of Trefin, an attractive village just a quarter of a mile from the famous coast path and only 15 minutes from the cathedral city of St. David's and the popular beach at Whitesands Bay. Some of our guests don't even venture that far though. Trefin works its magic on them, it's the sort of place where you can just relax and be.
A short stroll from us is a pub serving good food and a national award winning café/gallery and then there's the sea, always present, and some of the most glorious coastline this world has to offer. Come and experience it for yourself…
