What an amazing place Escondite Pacifico is! Alejandro, the owner, has the place sorted and is always on hand to help you with anything and everything! It's the perfect place to hang out and relax for a few days, or a few too many!
The Location
If you are looking for chilled-out surfing vibes, this is the place for you, You are literally on the beach, but it's actually located on Playa Guascate not Popoyo Beach, so make sure you mention this if getting a taxi there! When getting a bus from elsewhere, it will drop you a few kilometres away, and you will need to get a taxi or arrange with the hostel in advance. The town itself is just a strip of hostels and hotels along the beach, and most have a little restaurant as well, so you can venture along or eat in. There are also two little supermarkets and that is all around there. It is super chilled and such a relaxing place.
Rooms and Bathrooms
There is one dorm room and two privates and pretty much everything is made out of natural material. The bunk beds are all fitted with mosquito nets and there are fans in the room, but it does cool down a little during the evenings. The bathrooms in the dorm are large with a couple of showers and toilets; once again the doors are made of natural wood and can sometimes lack a little privacy. The private rooms have their own bathrooms. There is also an outside shower to wash off after the beach.
Common Spaces
This hostel is perfect, and the size and the vibe make for the perfect chilled experience. There are chairs by the beach and couches in the shade as well as hammocks for you. There is the bar/restaurant open all day. The menu changes everyday, and you can grab a smoothie or a beer and hang out with the crew and guests. The owner will be able to organise anything you would like to do while visiting, from surfing lessons to horseback riding. There is even a volleyball net ready to go.
Summary
What an unreal place! It is super chilled and the perfect space to hang out for a few days. And the sunsets alone are worth a visit!
