Georphi's is a chain of cabins scattered through a jungle filled with super friendly cats and other assorted wildlife. This is just the icing on the cake.
The Location
This place has an excellent location, the hostel is right on the edge of West End's party strip, which means it is just as easy to get a good night's sleep as it is to go out and not have a good night's sleep. The extra space from the more touristy aspects of West End is appreciated, but there isn't so much space, so there is still easy access to supermarkets (one of the best ones in West End is right next door), cafes, and restaurants.
The hostel is easy to find and there is secure parking on site. For those using public transport, the minivan to Coxen Hole -- where the ferries and airport are located -- can be flagged down from just outside.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Georphi's has a wide range of rooms from singles up to quadruple private rooms, both with or without air conditioning and with or without an en suite bathroom. Bathrooms and showers are combined and are large, clean, and comfortable with a decent amount of options for storing toiletries or clothes.
There is only one dorm room with six beds that is sufficiently spacious but lacks lockers. Each guest does receive a key for the dorm and valuables can be stored behind the reception desk.
Common Spaces
As the majority of rooms are privates, there is little in the way of common spaces; each room has its own separate porch. The porches themselves are comfortable and can be a good place to socialise with tables and chairs plus hammocks if you are in one of the rooms that share a porch with the neighbouring cabin. Some of the privates have kitchens, but there isn't a common one so self-catering might not be an option for all.
It is possible to hang out around the office as there are seats, a book exchange, and tourist information, but most people do so because it has the strongest Wi-Fi signal.
Summary
This is a solid hostel, but it is a shame about the lack of cooking facilities (it isn't even possible to get hot water) and the no lockers; if you are going for a private room, it is a great spot. It is a still pretty good spot for dorms, just less so.
