We've watched the number of hostels in Yerevan grow in recent years. Now that there is some choice in where to hostel, consider how well established your Yerevan hostel is as some hostel touts seem to be more similar to shared flats than to true backpackers' hostels. Yerevan isn't huge, but a location near the city-center and a metro (subway) station is preferable as this makes it really easy and cheap to get to the airport bus, train station and all the sights without the confusion of trying to read Armenian mini-bus display boards.
