Terrible
Terrible experience. After a long drive we just wanted somewhere to rest up before continuing our road trip. In our dorm was a man heavily intoxicated with drugs/alcohol attempting to urinate in the corner of the room. We left after 30 mins and checked in to a local motel. I called the hostel in the morning who said they would still charge me for our evening stay even though we didn't stay there longer than 30 minutes. The motel was lovely and worked out a similar price for 4 adults. Definitely avoid rockhampton backpackers.

Relaxing place!
I enjoyed my time at this hostel in Rockhampton. There is a lot of space and the facilities are first class. I would definitely recommend this hostel to people staying in Rockhampton.

Good hostel overall
Free bus station pick up. Clean hostel, great kitchen, no hire of any equipment required, lots of space. Not much atmosphere, free dvds & board games, but no activities or entertainment offered. Staff were very friendly & accommodating however, &would go out of their way to help you, the care taker in particular. Not enough plug sockets in the bedrooms unfortunately. If you visit this town prepare for a friendly welcome, but a very quiet time & to be eaten by mosquitoes.

nice stay in rocky
It's a very good and cheap hostel in Rocky. The staff on the reception is very friendly and try to help you with all different things e.g. you get mobil numbers because of work or where you can work for free accommodation.
Very helpful. All is clean, very clean, the bathroom, kitchen and the rooms. You achieve the supermarket in 20 min per feet and it isn't a long way in the city and to the tourism information.
We can recommend this hostel.

The best hostel I've stayed at!
The hostel is conveniently located between the North side set of shops and just a little further back, but a pleasant walk over the bridge of the lovely Fitzroy River, to the city centre. The hostel is nestled off the main road in a quiet, rural surrounding. It has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and some lovely pets, to add that homely feel. The owners Ozzie and Steph are friendly, accommodating and hard working, to keep the hostel at a high standard of cleanliness. The hostel mostly attracts backpackers just passing through. There are also long termers working locally -- a friendly bunch, if you scratch the surface. The hostel has an open design layout, with an excellent modern kitchen, a very clean bathroom and a cool lounge room, with very comfortable leather couches. The dorm I stayed in was also clean and had a comfortable bed. The air conditioning was much appreciated! A refreshing dip in the hostel pool is a MUST after a hot, humid day! Their free bicycle hire is a handy way to familiarize yourself with the local city. My only criticism is that hostel was slow in responding to an initial email enquiry and another email was left unanswered. Both ovens in the kitchen were out of working order.

Clean facilities, helpful staff
Helpful staff, relaxed atmosphere, clean and comfortable bed (pity you can't control snoring in multi occupied rooms). Facilities cleaned often, free bicycles available, internet available, staff friendly and extend themselves to make stay pleasant. I would stay again -- hopefully in single accommodation -- non snoring.

Great hostel, friendly owners
i worked in rockhampton for awhile and stayed here for about 2 months. people running the place make you feel right at home (very nice). pool is good. and domino's about a 5 min walk. also well equipped kitchen. maybe not the most exiting place in oz but the most welcoming one.

We only stayed here for one night to break up a long journey. It was very basic but rooms were clean and rates were cheap. There was free pick up from the bus terminal and staff were really helpful. The hostel seemed to be quite a way out of town though.
