Dawson City River Hostel is a welcoming break from the tourist crowded Dawson City across the river. The ferry is the only way to cross the river. It's free and only takes 5 minutes. The hostel is made up of "Old West Style" cabins. There is also a tenting area. If you want to take a bath, you can chop your own wood to stoke the stove to heat the water! And there are his and her outhouses. The kitchen is partially outside with picnic tables protected under a large wooden overhang. The rustic little gift shop sells a number of items including postcards & photographs by the manager Dieter Reinmuth. He's an amiable, outgoing manager. You can also rent bikes and canoes. The hostel site is right on the riverbank with views of Dawson City and the mountains. It's fantastic! Lynn Lipari
