The Location
ZigZag Hostel got its name because it is located in the labyrinthine side streets off the busy East Gate Road. While it is situated only a half-hour from Taj Mahal on foot, you will see a completely different face of the city here -- farmers milking cows and turning cow poo into heating and building material. The hostel aims to support the local community and organises visits for guests to see the local peasants' way of life. It is hard to imagine that you can find such a peaceful location so close to the tourist hub of the city!
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel offers private as well as dorm rooms on three different floors. The dorms have colourful bunk beds but not much else. The bathrooms are shared and are simple but are plentiful and serve the purpose perfectly. In fact, the owner decided to install both European- and Indian-style toilets to let guests pick the one they prefer.
Common Spaces
The common areas are spacious, upbeat, and colourful. All the wall surfaces are gradually being covered by paintings made by guests that reflect their country of origin. Therefore, you can find everything here from the Portuguese rooster of Barcelos to Russian Matryoshka dolls. There is a nice chilling area in the middle of the bottom floor with colourful pillows; this is where the free breakfast is served in the mornings. Besides, on the rooftop, there is a sitting area which is ideal for relaxing in the evenings. From here, you can watch as the work on the surrounding countryside gradually slows down with the sun setting over the city. The hostel seems to have a strong Catholic orientation, with crosses displayed all over and a modern interpretation of Da Vinci's Last Supper painting in the eating area.

All in all, do not pick Zigzag Hostel if you are in a hurry to see Taj Mahal and then head on; pick it if you would like to spend some quality time in Agra, getting a genuine insight into the life of its residents. The hostel will not only be able to give you access to them but will also provide you with a relaxing environment with like-minded travelers.

• Zigzag Homestay Agra is centrally located, walking distance from various Heritage Monuments and sites. Out of the Touristic Bubble but very near too
• Agra Cantt railway station, its 8km, as soon you come out of station take a Tuk-Tuk from prepaid taxi stand , It will take between INR 150, landmark, Near Gandhi Park , Rajpur Chungi
• You may call us if you take taxi and let us talk to the driver, it's better to guide them in local language. You can find our contact detail in your confirmation letter after you made booking.
