Jennin Backpackers Guesthouse is a five out of five! You could think of something that would be amazing to have at the perfect hostel and you will find it here -- swimming pool, free breakfast, pool table, table football, video games, movie corner, board games, hammocks, chilling huts, and -- on top of all this -- really nice and quality dorms! The owner was a backpacker himself, so he knows well how to make your stay a pleasurable one!
The Location
The hostel is located on the east side of Vang Vieng, further away from the nature park but closer to where your bus will drop you off. It is next to the night market and a huge empty parking lot, which means that unlike other hostels, it has a massive area to play with. However, it is also not far away from anything in the town -- the toll-free bridge is about fifteen minutes away from here on foot, while Wat That can be reached in about five. You also have all kinds of eateries and supermarkets lining the back side street of the hostel. What is also super nice about its location is that you have a view of the mountains while chilling in the swimming pool.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel offers dorms of various sizes, which have three-level bunk beds inside. However, the top bunk is offered to people only on the rare occasion that everything else is full. The rooms have great air conditioning and three excellent Wi-Fi networks. You also get your own electronic plug and reading lamp with the bed. The rooms are en suite, and while the toilet is not too tastefully decorated, it has everything you might need and it is big enough to safely hang your clothes inside without them getting wet.
Common Spaces
Some of the common areas are decorated with the travel photos of the owner, which gives the place a nice vibe and makes you want to explore further. You can quickly understand that this place was created by somebody who has traveled a lot himself and understands the needs of travelers. To the hostel belongs a huge outdoors area with a semi-open terrace, a sunbathing platform, chilling huts, and of course the swimming pool. You can use these around the clock! It is here that you are served your free breakfast in the morning which is rice with eggs and a colesaw salad. You also have self-service bananas available throughout the day until they run out. There are also two video-game stations outside as well as a free water-drinking station and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Inside, you have one movie corner, a board game corner, and a chilling corner. At the reception, you can benefit from some great travel advising as well!
Summary
It is obvious that this hostel is the preferred choice of those people who are not into partying but instead want to enjoy a relaxing time in the beautiful natural environment that Vang Vieng has to offer. If you are this kind of person, you are guaranteed to make friends very quickly here and you will have an awesome time thanks to all the entertainment provided free of charge.
