Amy 2 Hostel was called into life after the huge success of Amy Hue Hostel, which definitely means that the owners know how to put a smile on travelers’ faces. The most incredible breakfast, huge comfy beds, and excellent air conditioning are some of the things that make this place special.
The Location
Amy 2 is located right in the middle of the tourist hub of Huế -- at the intersection of a few roads that all have nothing else but bars, restaurants, and hotels on them. It is only ten minutes to the famous Huế night market as well. This means that you just have to step outside and will have all that’s happening right on your doorstep! However, as the historic sights are rather spread out, you will definitely need a bicycle or tuk tuk to explore them all.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel offers a variety of room types with dorms dominating. The entire place is spotlessly clean and tidy and looks really modern. The dorms all have bunks with massive beds and extremely comfortable mattresses, even if the pillow is a bit too hard. There are curtains on the beds but they let some of the light through so they do not guarantee much protection if people in the room decide to stay up late. The curtains are much needed though, as some of the beds are pushed right next to each other so you will pretty much have a stranger sleeping right next to you. You can lock your bag under the bed and you have your electronic plugs and lamp next to your bed. The room is cooled by air conditioner, which is of excellent quality. There are two bathrooms inside the room but there are some more all over the property. These are also in perfect condition and well maintained and provide shower gel and shampoo.
Common Spaces
The biggest disadvantage of staying here is that there are hardly any common areas. There is a tiny balcony that opens from the room, which would be a nice place to sit, but it is very obvious that it is not meant for guests. That leaves the terraced area in front of the reception; however, this is small, without many seats, and offers no privacy. This is mostly used in the mornings as the area for having breakfast. Breakfast is impressive though -- you are given a long list to choose from with everything you can imagine from mushroom omelettes through banana pancakes to cereals with yoghurt. Besides, you can help yourself to a wide range of drinks including fresh orange juice.
Summary
Amy 2 Hostel is definitely a high-quality accommodation provider that pays a lot of attention to cleanliness, hygiene, and safety. Its free breakfast is five star, but the lack of common areas is a bit disappointing.
