Hostel Los Chamos is located in San Juan del Sur, the most touristic and expensive place in Nicaragua. It is a famous surf spot and has some great parties, especially the infamous Sunday funday Pool Crawl.
The Location
The hostel is located right in the center of the village of San Juan, which makes it easy to get around. The beach is just a block away and the bars are on the same street. The bus station is only a few blocks away, and there are different stops depending on the destination. The area is safe at night and the reception is open twenty-four/seven. Many restaurants are available around; the supermarket is a few blocks away and the local market is just behind the corner.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel offers dorm accommodation on bunk beds. Mostly there are rooms of four and six beds, which come with a bathroom inside. There are also bathrooms shared with everybody else in the hostel, next to the kitchen. Dorms are basic, with fan as air conditioning is not available. Mattresses are large and comfy and lockers are available, but one needs to have his own padlock. Soap is available in the toilets but not shampoo in the shower. The rooms are clean but the bathrooms are not always very clean.
Common Spaces
There is a kitchen available for guests, which is open space and faces to the area with tables and chairs. It is clean and nice to use as the equipment seems to be new and in good condition and the fridge is spacious.
There are no real common areas besides the kitchen area with tables and chairs, so guests don’t really hang around the hostel. Also, San Juan del Sur is an active place with many bars and parties, so people usually go out and enjoy the little city. Therefore the hostel is not a party one and it is not very easy to meet other travelers, as it usually looks empty. On the other hand, it offers a great sleep and people can have a quiet time after they party in the city. Breakfast is available for free every morning and the choices alternate between eggs and pancakes.

All in all the place offers a great stay both for those who want to party and the quiet ones. In fact, party people can enjoy the proximity to all bars and clubs, while quiet people can be next to the beach and the village without having loud music and people talking the whole night.
