How is Capsule Hostel rated?

Capsule Hostel Reviews

Theatre International Hostel is a very professional and friendly hostel; a lot of thought and effort has gone in making guests' stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible, and if there is ever an award for most power plugs in a hostel, this place is going to snatch that up with ease.

The Location

Guatemala City is big, and its various attractions, museums, monuments, and districts of interest are pretty spread out; with this in mind, however, the hostel has a great location as it is five minutes south of the Zone One historic district and the pedestrian mall that runs through it. The pedestrian mall has everything you could possibly need, including enough restaurants that you could visit one a day and not hit them all up by the end of the year. ATMs and shops of all types are plentiful, other than supermarkets, which are generally located only a few streets off the main drags. The hostel is easy enough to locate, but make sure to have a good bearing of the address as the hostel is very marked. Some parking available on the street.

There is plenty of public transportation options between the taxis cruising the areas, the myriad bus stops and metro stations nearby, and even the airport (which is theoretically within walking distance).

Rooms and Bathrooms

Dorm rooms are very roomy, eight- or sixteen-bed affairs with bunk beds (double beds on the bottom and singles on top), but you aren't expected to share the double bed unless you are a couple. Dorms don't lock but every bed has its own locker and the locker has a double plug in it, which is cool. Beds also have their own lights and plugs and the bottom bunks have curtains. Private rooms are single, double, triple, and quadruple rooms ,but all share a bathroom with the rest of the hostel.

Bathrooms and showers are combined together and are large and spacious with plenty of room for everything you could possibly want to do in a bathroom, including dancing. It's very clean, plus the hostel supplies soap and shampoo.

Common Spaces

Common spaces are limited to the clean, well-equipped, and very hipster-esque kitchen and the courtyard/patio area; both areas are very pleasant, especially the courtyard with patio furniture on fake grass in the sunlight and couches pressed up against the wall in the shade. Most rooms open out into the courtyard, and this creates a natural tendency for the residents of the hostel to gather here, fostering a very friendly vibe. There is a free computer with internet for guest use and a book exchange.

Summary

This is a great hostel with a great location -- there's nothing to complain about.
