We had a lovely few days at the hostel in one of the apartments opposite the main house. Everything had been thoughtfully prepared and the breakfast was cooked to order. A very friendly and welcoming family.
It was very clean. It had a wonderful breakfast, the best I've had at a hostel. Everyone was very friendly.

Absolutely loved this place. The owners/staff were incredibly warm and helpful (in numerous languages, fluently, from what I heard!) and this spirit ran through the entire experience. Great breakfasts; lovely room/decor; big, very comfortable bed; brilliant shower; good wifi; heaps of stuff laid on - guidebooks, fiction, newspapers, suncream, toiletries, beach towels...Location wise - 20 seconds to a great little local bar; 30-40 seconds to various other cafes, bars, shops, restaurants, or the bus to Victoria; 60 seconds to the beach. Overall - only regret is booking 3 nights instead of 7...
Liked: It was superb - I cannot praise it enough. The family who run it were the most perfect hosts - warm, helpful, there for anything you needed, yet unobstrusive in their service. Spotlessly clean, charmingly decororated, and the best home-coked cakes in the universe. Highly highly recommended. Didn't like: Nothing - everything was perfect.
The two ladies running the Guest House welcomed us nicely. The location was convenient: near the harbour. The breakfast was delicious (home-made pastries). A drawback would be the view of the room since it gave onto the opposite building (where works were going on. Good address!
maria giovanna is perfect! very good breakfast,location perfect,right across from dive shop. everything u need is right there. restaurants,moped rent,market,pharmacy etc... staff is so good! only thing that i was not aware of. they piked us up at the ferry-no charge but do not provie a ride back. we left on a sunday so could not get a taxi and had not planned for the bus. not hotel fault-i just did not know. be prepared! wonderful stay at this guesthouse! i am going back asap!!
I was not in the Guess House but in a flat on the other side of the street.
The flat was OK but whithout anything special.
The owner was quite cold, she did not seem to be happy doing her job.
The good points were the breakfast with homemade pastry and the quite good localisation to visit the Island of Gozo.

Maria Giovanna Hostel is situated right at the foot of Marsalforn Bay. To get to Maria Giovanna from the Gozo ferry terminal - Mgarr, take bus no 25 to the main town Victoria, then bus no 21 to Marsalforn. We are only 2 blocks away from the bus station. However, if you give us a call from the ferry, we are very happy to come to meet you there to drive you to the Hostel for free.Address: 41 Rabat Road, Marsalforn, Gozo, Gozo Island, Malta
