Student's Hostel Gowett is located in a prestigious building of the last century, built from the English administrations of Val di Cornia mines.
The property boasts a strategic position that allows visitors to enjoy an enchanting area of Tuscany, where nature and history merge in a stunning landscape.
Today it is a modern Youth Hostel ranging 100 beds available in double rooms and 4/6 bed dorms.
All rooms are ensuite and are particularly suitable for families and school groups.
Situated in the St. Silvestro Archaeominenary Park, where the homonymous Medieval Rock and Temperino Mine are set, it is less than 5km far from the seaside of San Vincenzo and Donoratico. Val di Cornia naturalistic-archaelogical parks (Baratti and Populonia) are easily reachable from the hostel. Close to the hostel you'll find the Documentation and Education Centre " Villa Lanzi" with pili-functional areas, classes, libraries and internet rooms.

Pricy for a hostel, but a beautiful setting in an ecological park that is also a working quarry. Clean, private bathroom in each room, great breakfast,& helpful, friendly staff but a 15 minute drive from train station.

Liked: I was searching for a place in the nature, not too far from the coast, to relax and get my mind cleared - thats the place! located in the mountains, walking trails around and beautiful campiglia marittima + touristy san vincenzo in reasonable distance.
even better is the staff, very very friendly+helpful - since the restaurant was closed in low season i was invited to have lunch + dinner with them.
i arrived by train, so they picked up from the station san vincenzo + claudio was always available for a ride on the motorbike :-) for 3 days i rented a scooter (40/day). u'll definitely need wheels there to visit the beautiful sites of populonia, baratti bay, rimigliano parc... i enjoyed my stay a lot! Disliked: nothing.

Liked: As the description says, this hostel is located a long way from just about everything, deep in the Tuscan countryside. If that's not what you're after, then this place isn't for you. If, however, you're looking for a very relaxing place to stay in a unique location (I've never seen another hostel like it), then this is a fantastic place. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was as good as I've had in any other hostel, and far better than most. Disliked: This hostel is not a place to stay if you're travelling alone and looking to meet fellow travellers. You will need a car to arrive at the hostel, but that's understandable given the countryside location.
