Do not be deceived by the pictures provided by the owner, the hotel really is in a dangerous alley. My friends and I moved out after the first day to a hostel that was the same price, except in a much better area, and the quality of the rooms was better. Do not feel pressured to book this hotel because of its good location, because the rest of the district is very different from San Ramon. If you walk 20 meters from the hotel and turn around the corner there are a number of safer alternative hostels for the same price.
This hostal is in a good location (as in close to Las Ramblas, etc.) but it's also slap-bang in middle of the red light area, with ladies hanging around outside the door to the hostal! The room wasn't worth what we paid and it can be quite uncomfortable walking around to and from hostel, especially at night with all the prostitutes and dodgy men hanging around. Also, it's very noisy if you have a room overlooking the road. The man at reception was very nice, though! I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you are desperate, especially not girls on their own.
This hostel is actually located in a dark side street, in a not-so-safe looking neighborhood. Cleanliness was not a problem, but the hostel has no noise isolation and I could hear the receptionist's TV in my room, not to mention door slamming, etc. I would probably not recommend it. It has no backpackers' life whatsoever.
What the owner fails to tell you is that the hostel is in the middle of the Arabic red light district of Barcelona! So I would highly discourage girls travelling alone to book a room here. Besides, cleanliness is also not this hostel's strength. :)
An excellent location: next door from Palau Guell! Friendly and patient but only Spanish-speaking personnel; clean and modern but surprisingly tiny elevator (which is a progress comparing with hotels in Paris). Rooms are not spacious but equipped with everything you need: medium-sized bed (they are not new but not too bad), small closet, TV (don't be surprised to give 10 EUR of security deposit for taking your remote control from the front desk), shower, small balcony and air conditioner. Perfect quality for this price.
Place is very ok, BUT you should not go there during the night. Ive been there at 1.30 a.m., and some thiefs tried to rob me in front of the Hostal! During the day theres safe. And its in the very centre of the city.
this is a clean and comfortable hostal, It offers good basic accomodation at a good basic price.it makes a good base if you intend to be out all day and is right in the centre of town, close to la Rambla.I found the location ok., but if ladies of the night offend you then its not for you!!
perfect hostel; clean, friendly, nice rooms with airco. fine beds, rooms are cleaned, fresh towels. But the neighbourhood can be somewhat agressive, so be careful. Very near to the ramblas.
