I was very impressed with the Hotel Osiris for may reasons. The place was clean, well maintained, and appealing. The beds were excellent, which is saying something in Cairo. How about modern air conditioning units in every room! But these are just the normal categories of excellence. Hotel Osiris goes way beyond this. The staff is more than friendly. Most speak adequate English and French to communicate and even joke around with the guests. It is a small hotel with a variety of room types which also makes it very homey. Guests like to hang around in the very comfortable Egyptian style lounge or the fourteenth floor roof-top patio. The proprietor, Mr. Nabil is perhaps the asset of Hotel Osiris. He is a consummate host; great conversationalist in English, French, or Arabic; and is also a great chef. He also has good connections for tourist bargains for all the great destinations. The best I can say is that the staff at Osiris make you feel like you are staying with a favorite uncle rather than at just another hotel.
Superb in Cairo. Last year October I spent my holiday in Nabil's hotel and everything was functioning very well. Now coming January going again to Cairo and it's not difficult to guess the name of hotel where I'm going to stay.
I stayed for a week in July this year at the Hotel Osiris and was absolutely delighted with the accommodation, service, and the helpfulness of the hotel's gracious host, Nabil. The rooms and bathrooms were immaculately clean, and the in-house dining facilities were fabulous. As a woman traveling alone in Egypt I was impressed with how much care Nabil took to make sure that my stay in Cairo was as enjoyable as possible and also as safe as possible. He arranged several tours for myself and other guests and our unanimous verdict was that those tours were not only superb, but also efficiently organized and represented great value for money. I recommend the Hotel Osiris unreservedly, and am planning to return there when I next visit Cairo.
I stayed for five days with my family in October, 2006. It was beyond our expectations. Well-maintained clean rooms with a peaceful environment at the twelfth floor made our stay comfortable. Nabil, Josianne, and the extremely helpful staff are the livewire of the hotel. The location is very convenient in the middle of downtown Cairo. Nabil with his great knowledge on tours and travels in Egypt helped us make discover the length and breadth of Egypt at great prices. We'll surely recommend this hotel to anybody going for vacation to Egypt. Lastly, I would say you get great dinners and the terrace is real peaceful place to be in the evening.
My 2 friends and I stayed at Hotel Osiris in August. It was a very comfortable, safe and friendly environment. Josiane and Nabil were great - we felt that they really looked out for us, especially as 3 single women visting Egypt for the first time. I totally recommend this hotel, and it's a real bargain!
I stayed at the Osiris for two weeks (at different times)in September this year and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location is great the hotel is set on the top two levels of a commercial building on the edge of downtown Cairo (which is a busy retail/business/residential area close to the American University, Tahir Square, the Metro, Egyptian Museum, Talat Harb, markets etc.). It allows easy access to Cairo's sights and the opportunity to observe/experience daily life in the city as you come and go without being closeted off from the locals inside a generic hotel. It is an oasis with spectacular views across Cairo (including the satellite dish and rubble strewn rooftops that were a source of much interest for my group and the superb sunsets) where you can easily unwind and relax after a hard day's sightseeing, conference attendance or business engagements. The other guests were an interesting mix of people and the hotel's set up allows you to socialize or not as you wish.
The Osiris is a small, boutique style hotel run by husband and wife team Nabil and Josiane. It's clean, quiet and cool and the decor evokes the ambience of the exotic Middle East. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good (so good in fact that we started delaying our days by lingering over breakfast and gave up eating out at night). There are rooms to suit different budgets/needs. I ended up staying in three different rooms but all were comfortable, light and airy and air-conditioned (important in the late summer heat).
Nabil is able to help you arrange your sightseeing itinerary and shopping if you want advice and negotiate your way around they city (or even the country) with helpful information and booking tours at competitive prices. If you're in Cairo on business or want to use e-mail/Internet to keep in touch with home there is computer access (which I found really handy). I'll certainly stay at the Osiris again if I'm lucky enough to get back to Cairo and would highly recommend it to others.
An oasis in the middle of busy Cairo. I couldn't have asked for more friendly and helpful staff. This is quiet and very clean home away from home, with a unique Egyptian/French influence. The room was spacious, cool and tastefully furnished. To a first timer in Egypt, Nabil, his wife Josian and the staff were generous of their time and gave extremely helpful and useful advice.
Tours can be arranged through the hotel and a more than reasonable price. The inclusive breakfast was delicious and the optional evening meals were equally delicious and cheap. The rooftop terrace is a haven with an almost 360-degree breathtaking view of Cairo and its surrounds.
The hotel is located in downtown Cairo, a mere 15-minute amble up the road from Tahir Square, the Metro, local and up market shops and the Cairo Museum.
Thank you Josian, Nabil, Ali and the rest of the staff for making this such a wonderful experience for me. I'll be back!
