Hotel MAX IN MOKUM is a nice hotel in the center of Amsterdam. Hotel MAX is non-smoking hotel.Hotel MAX offers clean and cheap tourist accommodation in the heart of Amsterdam. It is located in the center not far from Rembrandt square in the so called 'de pijp area' All the sights such as Dam Square, Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein are close to our Hotel. Museums such as the famous Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Anne Frank House and others are also close by. Theatres and concert halls are also a short distance of the hotel and accessible using public transportation. For a round trip or a dinner-cruise over the canals, you need only a small distance to bridge. In terms of food, you need not look far. Our accommodation is surrounded by restaurants and cafes.All rooms here have their own shower and toilet in the room. The rooms also have TV, central heating and telephone (only for internal use). MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: minimum stay 2 nights during the week and weekend. Minimum stay 2 nights for all bookings made in the dorm room.

Too expensive
I booked this hostel by internet, so I had the pictures of the website in my mind when I arrived. We became the two "double rooms" in the garden which were nothing but an altered garage. the "bathroom" turned out to be self-built by someone not knowing exactly what he/she was doing, the shower wasn't leakproof, the power outlet had no surrounding (in the bathroom!), there were uncovered concrete bases everywhere, the sink was in the "room," since the bathroom could only be used by one person and even then it was hard not to bounce against the shower or toilet if you turn around. there were two beds inside but only one blanket, no carpet. when i mentioned that this was not what i booked and paid for I was told that these were the "biggest rooms." In fact two people standing in the room only works out if you are not heavyweighted. But they cleaned it every day and the bathroom was clean when we arrived.

Liked: The hotel was very easy to find and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Our room and bathroom was clean. Its was described very well so it was what was expected and to a higher standard. Our room was small and that was made clear. (It is a hostel after all) Bike rental/buffet breakfasts and vending machines available. Local to shops and a market and all public transport. The quaint little garden came as a bonus :) Didn't like: I was very happy with my stay and could not find any negatives.

Never again that we will go back here again! We had booked for 2 nights, but at the arrival they couldnt find our reservation! so after 1 night we had to move to another hotel! when we were checking out they told us to wait for another 3 hours, before we can go to the other room! so after getting our 20 euro borg back, we decided to go home. The room we had, had a dirty shower with mold in it, en the toilet keeps making strange noices. so for us, we will never go back to this hotel again!

I recommend you this hostel. Although the bedrooms are for 11 people, all the rooms are clean and you can use 1 bathroom and 2 showers. you don't need sleeping bag because the staff provides you good blankets. In addition, you can walk from the hostel to all the parts of the city. I have visited all the places on foot in two days, and I have had a good time so I really recommend you visiting amsterdam.

Hotel Max was a great place to sleep. If that is all you need, then it's a good choice. It is clean and I never had a problem with having access to the showers or anything. It is not a party hostel, and it is on the outskirts of the city. Luckily Amsterdam is only a twenty or so minute walk from end to end, so it didn't matter. Just keep in mind that if you sign up for the 10 bed dorm, you have to deal with other people making noise in the middle of the night, and the rooms are so close that you can hear what goes on next door.

Nice staff and rooms, but no including breakfast. Supermarket vis a vis, the area around is nice, the Albert Cuypmarket, which is very interesting and colourful, is close to the hotel. The next tram station is not called Nederlsandse bank, its called "Stadhuolderskade"...

Apart from the smelly toilets, it was a good place to crash. I wouldnt call it fun as it was just somewhere to sleep at the end of the day. very good location though, just 10-15min walk from all the great bars and cafes. and is right next to Lidl the supermarket!!! this place comes recomended from me
