Balenbouche Estate is a plantation guesthouse and retreat center offering several private eco-style cottages and rooms in a beautiful natural and historic setting.
The 70 acre property is a working farm, heritage site, and family home on the south west coat of St. Lucia, near many of the islands best attractions between Soufriere and the International airport in Vieux Fort.
The expansive gardens are alive with colorful tropical flowers, beautiful old trees, exotic fruits, and many indigenous birds. Our nature trails lead you to the remains of an 18th century sugar mill, and to several secluded beaches just a few minutes away. Many of our guests are return visitors and have adopted Balenbouche as their second home.
The estate is also a popular venue for weddings, artists, yoga retreats and educational projects. Our guest volunteer program offers visitors the opportunity to get involved with our mission of preserving the environment and heritage of our site, and receive a free night!

• Balenbouche Estate is located on the south western coast of St. Lucia, just 20 minutes from the Hewanorra International airport.• You can catch the public bus from Balenbouche, taking you to the island's three main towns, Vieux Fort (20 minutes), Soufriere (40 minutes) and Castries (1 hour 30 minutes).
• When you exit the international airport, take a right and continue on the main road through the town of Vieux Fort and the villages of Laborie and Piaye. Just after Piaye, look for a gate and sign on your left. The driving time from Vieux Fort is 20 minutes, and the driving time from Castries and the regional GFL Charles airport is 1 hour 30 minutes. It is easier to drive down the east coast if coming from the north of the island.
