What a wonderful place to stay!
The accommodation was brilliant, very close to all the sites and at easy walking distance. Breakfast gets a little boring as it is that same everyday but there is plenty of good food stores within seconds of the hotel. Would recommend this to people who are going to be out most of the day and really only have breakfast and sleep at the hotel, all in all an excellent holiday.
Thank you for making a special trip into an unforgettable one
The owner was very helpful to up. When we arrived he described the places we should go and give up a free map and marked touristic places. The room was spotless and good for the money value. In the morning he brought our breakfast to our room. I think the best place to stay in rome.
A Good Deal
I stayed at the Bed and Breakfast Smart last summer while traveling with two others. The hostel is run by a very friendly and helpful family -- willing to help us navigate a new city. The room we stayed in was very clean and spacious, and although the only bathroom was down the hall, we never had to wait to use it. The room was pretty noisy at night, but if you can stand it, it's a great location that makes the sights in Rome very manageable to walk to. Overall a good experience.
My girlfriend and I stayed here in December. Our room was warm and clean and the beds are lovely. I'll say they we are students, therefore we want value for our precious student loans. Not only did we get a good price, but we were also very impressed with the quality of this place; we never had to wait to use the showers or toilet, there is a fridge for you to store food, and although we didn't use it, a communal television.
Isa and his wife are nice normal people who looked after our needs well and left us to ourselves. Only complaint is that Isa was a bit stingey with the teabags at breakfast; only leaving us one, even after our request for two (as most of us require).
I certainly recommend this place if you're looking for cheap, no nonsense place to sleep during your visit to Rome.
Oh and if you're fit and healthy, I recommend you should climb to the dome of St. Peters Basilica, great views!
This was an awesome B&B. The rooms and the bathroom were very clean. The breakfast was simple but awesome for taking with you on the go to see places. They even had fresh fruit for you. Not many places I've been to provide you with this option. So it was much appreciated when we did get some fruit with our breakfast and sometimes we even got watermelon in the evenings if we were around. Very important after along day of sightseeing! Some of the rooms are by the street so they can be a bit noisy, but that is to be expected of any busy city. The owners were very helpful and tried to help out in any way they could, from providing you with a city map to allowing you to keep your luggage at their place till you depart for your next destination. Overall my experience at this B&B was awesome!
VERY BASIC and OVERPRICED. Be prepared to share one bathroom (shower and tub are all in one) with 12 other people including the owners. There is always a line, like you have to fight to use it. Breakfast consists of some packaged sweetened, colored juice drink and rolls, not appetizing at all. There is very dim lighting in the room, and there are no lamps, so you cannot read before going to bed. It is very basic and overpriced for what you have to tolerate.
We were 5 friends spending 2 nights in February 2005. We were very pleased by the great hospitality of the owners; they gave us good advice about transportation, a cheap supermarket nearby and places to visit. This is a big apartment, where a part is where the family of the owner lives and the other part is for the guests. Rooms are big, clean and quiet, with one clean bathroom for the guests. We will definitely return to Bed and Breakfast Smart the next time we go to Rome. theomounier@hotmail.com
We spent four nights in Rome and the Smart was definitely a very good place to stay. All the attractions are in walking distance of the place, 10 minutes to the Coliseum for example, and the area is close to Termini Station and gives good access to the Metro and bus. Isa and her husband are very nice and the place is outstandingly clean. We will come again!
Isabella was very nice and prepared us breakfast. She lives inside the house in another room and was very caring. Thank you for the nice hosting :)
Liked: Great staff, good location, nice rooms...and breakfast on demand Didn't like: Nothing
Liked: The proximity to Rome's Termini train station and many of the main sites is fantastic. The proprietor is extremely helpful. Breakfast is excellent. Our room was huge with private bathroom and opened onto the street yet was quiet through the night. Has A/C though we didn't need it. Didn't like: Really nothing. This is an excellent option in terms of a smaller place to stay and very well priced.
Isabella is an absolute star. We felt at home from the start. She gave us great advice for getting around Rome. The room was exceptionally clean and the breakfast every morning was a life saver. The apartment is located in a safe neighborhood and very close to Termini station. It was easy to walk to all points of interest in Rome.Thank you once again Isabella
Cleaning, hospitality, location
Liked: We were very well looked after. Our hosts showed us everything we needed to know about the area and Rome in general and were kind enough to look after our bags after we checked out. Didn't like: Nothing.
Liked: If I could rate it with more that 100% I would, I was travelling with my parents, the place and the facilities are super clean and nice. The owner is the nicest and most helpful person on earth. Value for money is incredible, specially for Rome stantards. Didn't like: Absolutelly nothing
Isabelle was really friendly and helpful
Liked: Best hostel I stayed in while in Rome. Isabella was super helpful with advice for sights, restaurants, & getting around. Breakfast was brought to the room. Bathroom & room were very clean. Great WIFI. Great value. Didn't like: Nothing.
Liked: The owner (Isa) was amazing. She came & met us when we were having trouble finding the place, provided us with lots of helpful information to help us plan our time in Rome, organized a taxi for us & then when my daughter left her phone in the taxi on the way to the airport, rang the taxi company & organized for the driver to come back & drop it off. The property is located within walking distance to many of the key sightseeing spots incl. the Colosseum & the room was very clean & comfortable. Didn't like: Nothing, wish we could've stayed longer.
Liked: Breakfast Didn't like: Change in location
