The Location

Located in the mission district, a mainly mexican neighborhood, the hostel is close to BART stations on 16th street and on 24th street. On arriving we made the mistake of walking into the car park of El Capitan, but the main door was on the sidewalk with a black gate door and doorbell for them to buzz you in. The area is poor with quiet a few homeless people but I felt safe during the day. We decided not to stay out too late at night for our own safety. During the day mission street gets alot of sun. TO get to downtown easily you can take the buses 14 or 49 that stop outside the hotel.

Rooms and Bathrooms

We booked a double room which we were happy with overall. There is a T.V. in the room, but it only had 2 channels. There is coffee making facilities in the room also. The rooms have sinks in them, which makes up for them not being in the bathroom. The cleaning staff will change your bin and towels everyday and we also make your bed for you.

Dislikes

During our stay there was constructing work going on very early in the morning which was pretty annoying. Having to wait for someone to buzz you in. No fridge in the rooms.

Common Spaces

There is no real common space for guests. There is a kitchen, but it's for residents only.

Summary

Overall it's not a bad hotel for the price. The location isn't great because it takes about 20-30 mins to get downtown and longer to get to the beach. Stay here if you are looking for no frills cheap accommodation.
