Hostel Lípa Reviews

Just like being at home.

Hostel Lipa is a lovely option in the hip neighborhood of Zizkov. Lipa is right beside the tunnel that takes you into the other hip, Prague neighborhood, Karlin. The hostel is about a 20-30 min walk from the center of Prague. Hostel Lipa is essentially one large apartment. It's decorated with midcentury antiques, there is a full kitchen with table, a dining table, and a living room. They accept dogs so sometimes you'll find a dog there as well! Hostel Lipa provides free coffee, tea, and cereal for guests. Reception is limited so you must plan accordingly. This is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. I look forward to returning in the future!

Hostel Lipa is a small, homey, clean, and friendly hotel well served by local amenities with easy access to central Prague.

The Location

Located in the Zizkov quarter (which takes its name from the warrior Jan Zizka), Zizkov is a sub-surbuban area with easy access to shops and restaurants, and is surprisingly green. The hostel is located next to Vitkov Hill, a historical battle site that is now a park with superb panoramic views of the Prague skyline. Hostel Lipa itself is within walking distance of Prague city centre (it is less than thirty minutes to the old quarter) and the area is also well served by buses and trams from the city centre (roughly eight minutes to the city), making it relatively easy to access the hostel.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The hostel boasts of three double rooms (up to two extra beds can be arranged for the rooms, except for the budget white room, which is smaller), and a four-bed dormitory (which can also be booked as a family room). Between them, they share kitchen and bathroom facilities. The rooms are all colour coded and are decorated simply but in a modern style, with some delightfully quirky design pieces peppered between the standard flatpack furniture. As a relatively small, quiet, residential, family-run hostel, it offers a comfortable stay and a good night's rest.

Common Spaces

Hostel Lipa allows free use of wireless internet and washing machine and comes with a basic but practical kitchen, with all the required kitchen appliances -- fridge, freezer, microwave, oven, electric stove, dishwasher, electric kettle, and coffee machine. Tea and coffee are offered free of charge -- perfect for chilling out after a long day out walking and exploring the wonderful city of Prague. The bathroom facilities are impeccably clean.

Secure and quiet, but yet a stone's throw away from the nearest party, the hostel will suit travelers of all callings. Lina and Michal, the extremely helpful proprietors who will bend over backwards to help their guests, are what make this small, local, family-run hostel extra welcoming and special.

Magnificent place!

We arrived one day early and with one broken bike, yet we were offered a very affordable option and a nearby place where to get our bike fixed really cheap. The staff is laid back, helpful and nice the provided common rooms (bath, kitchen, and toilet) as well as the sleeping rooms are marvelously equipped, spacious, and clean -- the best hostel we have been to since a long time!
