Hostel Skippy is a relaxing place to stay in esk Krumlov. The hostel is a two-hundred-year-old wooden house with a wonderful charm to it. The owner is very down to earth and strives to make the stay as laid back as possible. She is also very knowledgeable about the town, its history, and things to do/see and places to eat/drink.

The Location

This hostel is located about a thirty-five-minute walk from the train station (but this is fairly on par with most of the other hostels in the area as the train and bus station are not close to the city center) and parking is available in the front. The hostel is just outside of the city center about a five-minute walk. It is located on a quite street very close to a great and cheap bakery, a grocery store, restaurants, bars. The best part about the hostel's location is that it is located overlooking the Vltava River and it has some great views.

Rooms and Bathrooms

This hostel is small, with only a double room, and a four- and six-bed dorm, but it is a cozy place. The rooms are clean and well kept, but they can also be a bit stuffy at times. The bathrooms are shared and there is only one shower for the whole hostel. The shower is a bit small, especially if you are tall, but it is clean. There are no lockers in the hostel, but the owner will hold on to valuables if necessary.

Common Spaces

The hostel has a kitchen area where free tea is available all day. There is also a fridge to store food in and a small table where you can eat. There is also a patio outside, which overlooks the river, and it is a great spot to watch the kayakers and rafters. This is also a great place to hang out and meet new people as guests often relax here. The overall atmosphere of the hostel is very mellow, calm, and laid back. It is a place to relax, unwind, and enjoy the scenery. In addition, there is a computer, games, and a book exchange.

If you are looking for a quiet place to relax and unwind, but also to meet new people while hanging out overlooking the river, then Hostel Skippy is the ideal retreat.

Very nice place! We'll surely be back next year!

Skippy"s place is just perfect. Next to the river Vltava, the balcony is right above it. You can watch canoers. The location is very good. Shops are close, and the centre as well. Skippy is a great host. You will feel like at a friend, not at a hostel. A homey and friendly place. We suggest everyone to visit her place!

Friendly and cozy hostel!

Clean and cozy hostel. I've met most travelers who stayed here over 1 week.

This was like staying in a lovely bed and breakfast, complete with friendly staff. Spending afternoons on the deck and the rocks out back was a real treat.

Best Hostel in Europe!

We traveled for six weeks through Europe and this was not only the best hostel we stayed in but also the cheapest. Clean, comfortable, homey atmosphere, and beautiful views from the balcony. Would highly recommend!

It was so much more than I expected. It doesn't have the typical hostel bunk bed feel. It was more like I was staying at a friend's house.

Hostel Skippy occupies a charming, two-hundred-year-old house right on the bank of the Vltava river. The atmosphere here is more home than hostel, with lots of personal attention from Skippy, the Czech-Cubana resident owner who is also a musician, and you'll undoubtedly receive invitations to see her perform locally during your stay.

The best feature of the hostel is the roomy riverfront terrace with plenty of seating. Other than that, however, the cramped kitchen is the only common area, and Skippy is often using it to give English lessons or entertain her friends. So while you may have a hard time making your breakfast, you may also have the opportunity to meet some interesting locals. We ran into some of Skippy's friends at a crowded gypsy restaurant one night, and never would have gotten a seat if they hadn't ushered us over. The cozy, rustic kitchen is amply equipped, and there is a microwave and fridge in the hallway. You can drink tea and Turkish coffee that is supplied by the hostel, but you will have to pay for it.

The dorms and beds are comfortable and clean, and the foot-level windows give interesting views of passersby. The one bathroom is clean and attractively decorated with a skylight, and bath towels are provided free of charge, one per customer. The bathmat on the floor next to the shower/tub combination makes for a cozy bathing experience. A second toilet is located on the first floor.

Other features of Hostel Skippy include Skippy's three dogs (ask before petting, because one of them is quite touchy and needs to develop a relationship with you before she'll allow you to touch. The other two are more outgoing). There is also a book swap or lending library under the stairs. On arrival, you'll be given a hand-drawn map with Skippy's recommendations for restaurants, pubs, and the like. We were extremely pleased with her selections.

Although the hostel is not terribly near the center, it's not terribly far, either, and the supermarket is quite close. You'll have an easier time walking downstairs toward the center than upstairs back to the hostel, but if your legs are weary, use the map and learn to circumvent the uphill climb.

I stayed Just for one night but i felt very Welcome. Everything perfect. Thanks for your kindness!

this place was amazing. the location is so nice, hanging over the river almost. the terrace overlooking the river is perfect, i could spend the whole day out there. there were two staff, and they were lovely and gave us tips and recommended stuff for us to do. there wasn't a kitchen so you do have to eat out, but that wasn't too bad as everything was quite cheap. the shower was warm, but a bit tricky to use. other than that, perfect

I stayed in this hostel just for 1 night with my 3 friends. It was totally worth it, the location is superb, the people are quite kind and helpful, the rooms were quite tidy and cozy. We've come to know that the building is about 200 years old, hence, it has its own vibes, beautifully decorated and maintained it quite nicely. The terrace behind the home provides a spectacular view of the river, and one can enjoy the sounds of rushing water while relaxing and sipping a beer or munching snacks.

I can safely say that this hostel was the best part of my trip to esky Krumlov. Not only it is located in a beautiful spot by the river, far from the tourists and souvenir shops but still close enough to everything; it is also a place with a great atmosphere and wonderful personnel. I really enjoyed my time there and would definitely go back.

Amazing place. Comfortable and warm. Everything is clean and the owner is very kind. I had an excellent time here. The only thing is that is a little far from the bus station, but because is a small town far means 18 min walking.

I totally recommend this place.

Very old house with lots of character. But not exactly outfitted to be a hostel. More of a guesthouse feel. Fridge and microwave. Plus 2 small bathrooms. Room didnt really have anywhere to store your stuff so it was all just sprawled on the floor.

Cesky Krumlov is a sleepy, cute old town, and this hostel is its match. It is located on a nice river (which we enjoyed even during winter) and within walking distance of everything in town.

This hostel was good for a bit of down time, the location is great and such a beautiful view, a shame it was so cold I couldnt enjoy it! The staff were super helpful. There isnt a kitchen, and the shower is really a bath which I didnt really like. This hostel is really small but great for a few nights to see this beautiful town!

A very lovely place to stay when youre in CK. The terrace is absolute a place you would enjoy in summer and in winter if youre well wrapped:)

Sincerely and truly helpful host, just five minutes of walk from the absolute centre. Really nice terrace looking at the river, can be a bonus fun in good weather, although I didn't use that in zero degrees Celsius in December :) The common bathroom wasn't perfect, but nothing serious, just the general impression of not five stars. Nice host and value for money.

Very clean and close to the centre and the staff are lovely. It feels very much like staying at someones house which feels cosy but doesn't really give a hostel vibe. It was winter when we visited but the deck on the back is probably nice to sit on in the summer.

This was exactly what I needed after a few nights in the city, and feeling a little home sick. The place had such a homely and friendly vibe and I felt right at home straight away.

Being a solo traveller it may not have been the best place to of stayed... but the host was so wonderful and helpful with any questions asked.

The hostel is clean and very close to town and not far from the main bus station, it doesnt have a kitchen though but does have a very cute outdoor area to sit out at. Overall I would stay again but perhaps just with a friend.

Super cute little hostel with a really homey feel to it. The owner is really nice and I enjoyed talking with her. The back deck is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the river from as well. If you're travelling alone maybe not the most social place.

This is an excellent hostel a few minutes from the city centre, in a quiet location on the river. The owners are welcoming and friendly, with lots of ideas on where to eat, etc. Beds are comfortable and the dorm is spacious. Full access to a kitchen would be nice and an extra bathroom would be helpful especially because dishes have to be washed in the bathroom sink. An indoor common room would be nice at this time of year as it was too cold to sit out for long. Overall a great place to stay.

One of our favorite stays during our European adventure! The host is so welcoming and helpful! The location is amazing! Very clean and felt like home! Definitely would stay again!

Hostel Skippy is a beautiful 200-year-old house located along the Vltava River in historical Cesky Krumlov. It's just a short walk (5-7 minutes) from the center of town as well as beautiful forest trails. It's warm, cozy, charming, full of art, fantastic music, and creative energy.

We have a large terrace, a great kitchen, and comfortable rooms. Our terrace overlooks the river and serves as a great place for you to relax and take in the incredible views. It has built in chess tables and many areas to sit and enjoy the river, a book, coffee, tea, a beer, drawing, or fellow travellers.

Our 200-year-old kitchen is absolutely charming, fully stocked, and just waiting for you to prepare fabulous meals.

Upon arrival we will give you a map of the town and helpful tips about where to eat, drink, and have a great time. We will also be happy to assist you with bike rentals, boat rentals, horseback riding or arranging a massage... And if you're interested in day trips to nearby towns or into the forest, just ask us and we'll take care of the rest. We're quite small so getting to know our guests is part of the fun and helping you experience cesky krumlov to the fullest is our pleasure.

You can expect to find a very special atmosphere at Hostel Skippy so plan to stay a while and get the most out of this charming town.

Location and Contact

• Located along the river...
• If you arrive by BUS: get off at the the final stop. You will be at the main bus station. Walk downhill toward the main road and make a left at the gas station. The castle tower should now be on your right hand side. Keep walking down this road. You will pass 2 traffic signals, then continue on the main road downhill until you get to the bridge that crosses over the river. Cross the bridge and immediately turn to the right. You will be just a couple of minutes from the hostel. Walk through the parking area and continue forward with the river on your right side. Our building is the fifth on the right side... slightly below street level. It should take about 10 or 15 minutes from the station.
• If you arrive by TRAIN: it is best to take a taxi to town because it's quite far. If you call us upon arrival we can order one for you. However, if you want to walk down just look on the wall at the train station for our map with directions. We also have flyers available to make it easy to find us.
