Kabelvg Hostel is a summer hostel based in the local high school. There is a nice view from the hostel towards the centre of town but it is a bit of a hike to get there, especially if you have luggage.

Bearing in mind it is a school, the facilities are not too bad. But even by Norwegian standards it is quite pricey - especially when they lose your booking and you end up paying a lot more for a single or double room instead of a dorm bed.

The dorm rooms are rather basic and the beds are showing their age. The room was air-conditioned and warm enough but there was poor ventilation. The bathroom facilities are downstairs and are very much of the communal/locker room variety. As an HI hostel it often welcomes large groups of school children - with the attendant problems of youngsters running around and making noise regularly. There is a communal kitchen with basic facilities and a large fridge to store your food in. But the usual rules apply about being careful about what you put in there in case somebody else accidentally "borrows" it.

The single and double rooms are found in separate buildings and have better and cleaner facilities - occasionally with spectacular views back towards Kabelvg. There is a shared bathroom and kitchen on each floor of three to four rooms. These rooms are much more comfortable but also significantly more expensive.
