Danish hostels set a maximum that their members can charge (in 2003 it was 115DKK) and Danhostel Givskud tends to charge the maximum. It is not an unreasonable amount, however, and certainly cheaper than any other alternatives. An additional 55DKK is payable for hire of sheets.
The owner, Karin, is very friendly and welcoming and helps make the stay an enjoyable one. Givskud is quite off the beaten track but it provides a wonderful way to experience Jutland and is ideal for cyclists. It is also only a bus trip away from Legoland, and the Lveparken zoo is the hostel's neighbour. Otherwise there is not much in Givskud apart from a Spar supermarket and two service stations there aren't any restaurants or pubs. The nearest major railway station is Vejle, from where trains can be caught to destinations thoughout Denmark.
The hostel is kept in immaculate condition. The dorm rooms are clean and the ensuite bathrooms are big although the showers can be a little annoying since the water sprays onto the bathroom floor. The common areas are also kept clean and tidy with a TV that receives Danish, Swedish and German programmes, a billiards room and a self-service beer machine which sells cans of beer from 15DKK.
