Easy access to the every places in the city Reykavik from this hostel
The staff are friendly and attentive to customers, have knowledge very well of the city. Shuttle bus from Kefravik Airport to bus-stop 11 drop me off and walking only 2-3 minutes to the hostel. I enjoyed to stay there. Blessing.
Staff is hostile.
When we arrived, the office was closed. So the check in process was a hassle and not very welcoming. You have to talk to someone over a crackly intercom from outside with traffic going by and then hunt down your room among several buildings. Once we found our room, it was unacceptably dirty. When we complained, we were offered another room but would have had to share a common bathroom, which didn't work for us. So we were told to leave the key in the room and come back the next day ... which we did. I understand if a place has a no-refund policy. And I knew that when we left to stay somewhere else that there was a good chance we'd lose what we paid for this room. HOWEVER ... WHAT I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH is that when we came back the next day as we were told to, as soon as I told the clerk behind the desk who we were, he immediately started attacking us verbally. I was stunned! Why was he being so confrontational and abusive? I didn't make any demands. We were perfectly nice to him. I don't understand this behavior. We were accused of lying and stealing the key and both were simply berated by this man. I find this appalling! In addition to this, when we said that we would be writing bad reviews on the internet, he said, "go ahead. You're just one guest. We have too many good reviews. Yours won't matter." I've never been treated so badly by any establishment, anywhere. We've stayed in plenty of hostels before and never found accommodations so poor and been treated so hostile by any service staff in any situation. Unbelievable!!
Loudest Doors
This hotel was ok. We had a 3 bed room that was incredibly tiny for 3 people. The size of the room was really more for one person but they squeezed in a bunk and a bed in there. It did have a sink which was nice and free wi-fi in the room. In the morning you could hear all the doors being slammed as people walked in and out. It was the most annoying thing about this place. Breakfast was ok, could have been better and it was a bit far from the center of town, about 15 minute walk. The shower on the first floor had a draining problem. The shuttle bus from the airport does take you directly to/from this hotel.
