Located in Phuket, Patong Beach is one of the most famous beaches in Thailand. It is known for its party scene and its many outdoor activities, as well as the gorgeous beaches that attract many tourists from all over the world. Like in many other parts of Phuket, accommodation like hostels near Patong Beach is quite easy to find and is usually very affordable too.
While staying at your hostel in Phuket Patong Beach, you should definitely check out Bangla Street, one of the party districts of the city by the sea. While it is not a place for a younger crowd, this street is a den of debauchery after sundown. As a tourist, avoid any dark alleyways and smaller buildings out of sight of the main street.
If you like getting tattoos, a traditional Thai bamboo tattoo is a great way to experience local practices. This is a very painful process in which a sharp bamboo shard is used in lieu of a real tattoo needle. The ink is usually homemade, with some people making it using snake venom, among other ingredients. It is not for the faint of heart.
As you might imagine, the main attraction of Phuket Patong Beach is the beach itself. A huge range of water activities are available for you to indulge in. These include going jet skiing, windsurfing, getting a massage on the beach, having dinner on the beach, and getting many other ridiculously overpriced souvenirs sold by wandering vendors on the beach.
One adventurous thing you can do is check with your hostel if there are any fish massage parlors nearby. These massages are quite cheap. You immerse your feet in salty water and let small fish eat the dead skin off your feet, giving you an all-natural pedicure. There are other massages in the city as well, some of which you might want to be wary about.
