Quezon City is known as the "City of the Stars," because this is the city where most of the local actors and actresses live. It is also the home of the two biggest media networks in the Philippines (ABS-CBN Channel Two and its rival channel GMA Seven). That is why the city is teeming with celebrities; high-rise condominiums; high-class malls; and of course fun stuff like music bars, comedy bars, and great restaurants.
It is a common sight in Quezon City to see local and foreign celebrities brushing elbows with the locals, or simply shooting their latest television shows. Just walk around Mother Ignacia Street and you will be starstruck to see celebrities rushing to and fro in the nearby studio.
The city used to be the capital of the Philippines; today, Quezon City is the center of commerce and entertainment. Its highly populous center, called Cubao, boasts of the Araneta Coliseum that also used to be one of the biggest domes in the world. Entertainment events such as basketball games, concerts, boxing showdowns, and beauty pageants are held here. And there is more -- shopping is also lots of fun here, because the Gateway Mall connects all the department stores around the area.
Due to the heavily-populated nature of the city, finding a hostel in Quezon City becomes all the more easy. At the long stretch of the most popular road in the Philippines, the EDSA Road, tons of Quezon City hostels can be found and you have a variety of accommodations from which to choose.
One of the greatest sights here is the Quezon City Circle. It is one of the most-visited parks because it is a haven of flora and fauna. It is also clean and very accessible because cabs are available anywhere. If there is one city that is highly recommended to be visited, that is Quezon City.
