Struga, Macedonia, is a town on the beautiful Lake Ohrid in the southwest of Macedonia. It is much quieter with international visitors than the nearby town of Ohrid, but Struga surely has its charm. Lake Ohrid is a popular destination for holiday-makers from the Balkans and is getting increasingly popular among tourists from other European countries.
Struga is more than Ohrid’s little brother -- it is a pleasant, calm town. It not only has access to the lake, but also the Drim River flows through the town. On each side of the river is a nice promenade with cafes, a great place for a walk or some food in one of the cafes and restaurants. However, from a architectural perspective, Struga is not as picturesque as Ohrid, which is only fifteen kilometers away. When staying here, the town should not be the only reason to book a Struga, Macedonia hostel. From Struga, you have access to all towns on Lake Ohrid, including those on the Albanian side. There are three hundred sixty-five churches around the lake and the cave churches on the west shore should not be missed. For hiking, the Jablanica mountain range offers some nice hiking trails. Hiking tours can possibly be organised through your Struga, Macedonia hostel.
Your choices for a hostel in Struga, Macedonia, will be extremely limited; to be more precise, there are no Struga, Macedonia hostels inside the town center (the nearest hostel is actually ten kilometers outside Struga, in the small town of Radozhda, close to the Albanian border). This is a high-quality hostel with an incredible view over Lake Ohrid from the hostel’s balcony and some of its rooms. If you do not want to be ten kilometers away from Struga’s centre, then private rooms that are not inside a Struga, Macedonia hostel are currently your only option. You can also consider an Ohrid hostel as an alternative.
