Žabljak is the highest town on the Balkans, sitting at just under one thousand five hundred meters. It is a hub for Durmitor National Park, both in the summer (for hiking and biking) and in the winter (for skiing). There is really only one main road running through the town, so finding hostels in Žabljak won't be a problem, as most are considered central.
Žabljak is a great base for highlights in Durmitor National Park such as the popular Black Lake and Bobotov Kuk, the highest peak in the park. Black Lake is a forty-minute walk from the main bus stop in Žabljak and is a starting point for many hikes further into the park (including Bobotov Kuk).
