No holiday to the island of Rhodes would be complete without seeing beautiful Lindos, Greece , which is located to the east of the island and about fifty kilometres south of the town of Rhodes. Getting to Lindos is relatively straightforward; public buses depart from the city of Rhodes regularly and go directly to Lindos. The other alternative is either to rent a car, which can be far more expensive, unless you happen to be traveling in a group.
Upon arriving at Lindos, brace yourself -- its picture-perfect location will send you into a photo-taking frenzy. Lindos' main attraction is its Acropolis, set high above a cliff face over looking the Aegean Sea; it's truly a sight to behold. The crumbling Acropolis has origins dating back to fourth century BC. The stunning backdrop in which the Acropolis is set draws in history lovers and photo-taking fiends alike.
After enjoying the Acropolis, it is possible to take a short stroll to the town of Lindos. Its pretty, white-washed houses and stone-cobbled streets truly add to this Mediterranean paradise. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants, and shopping to be had here. But if that's not your thing, the beach is sure to impress. Lindos Beach is set in view of the town, beneath the cliff face. The crystal-clear, salt-filled waters and rocky shoreline are beautiful and all the natural salt is great for your skin.
In terms of accommodation, grabbing a bargain can be difficult in Lindos. Otherwise more affordable studio apartments or guesthouses can be found in Lindos.
