Hvide Sande is the Danish phrase for White Sand. It is a small town on the coast of Denmark, right on the shores of the North Sea. Due to it being so close to the sea, Hvide Sande is known for beautiful sunrises and sunsets, as well as a diversity of travel options and scenery you will not find everywhere in Denmark. It is a popular holiday destination because of its picturesque appeal, activities, and the white beaches.
There are not many hostels in Hvide Sande. You can typically find a few with lounges, internet access, and other amenities in and around the city. The prices of the hostels for a night are quite reasonable. Options for accommodation are not limited to the hostels, either. You can also stay at one of the many holiday homes and cottages around the town.
Hvide Sande is known for being a great spot to relax. The beaches are usually barren of human life, although you might see a few horses running loose along the shore. This makes the beach a good place to go for an evening walk or horseback ride. If, however, you want some action, the seaside shops offer water sports and equipment too.
The marathon of Hvide Sande is a seasonal activity, taking place on the beach every June. You can participate, if you want to, in the full marathon, four kilometer, or eight kilometer events. After a grueling run on the beaches, you can strip and run into the blue waters of the sea to cool down.
Remember to check out the lighthouse nearby, located on a small hill near town. There is a gift shop here and a café, so you can leave Hvide Sande with some souvenirs and a full stomach. The view from the top of the lighthouse is a great photo opportunity too.
