Just off Croatia’s Adriatic coast lies the Island of Čiovo, a small island in central Dalmatia that connects to the city of Trogir via drawbridge. This Mediterranean paradise is lush with crops of figs, almonds, vines, olives, and citrus fruits, and home to a number of cultural sites and relics of the middle ages.
Hostels and hotels on the island itself are limited, but since the town is a virtual suburb of nearby Trogir, visitors can find plenty of accommodation in the area. Tourists looking to stay in a hostel in Čiovo can get a true experience of what life is like on this beautiful island, but there are also plenty of hotels, bed and breakfasts, and vacation rentals to choose from. On the island itself, visitors can find some apartments and guesthouses, but these rent quickly as this is a popular island destination.
With stone cliffs, a spectacular blue sea, and abundant flora, Čiovo provides plenty of opportunities for vacationers looking to explore the Mediterranean landscape. Visitors to Čiovo can take advantage of this popular holiday island’s beautiful weather at one of the many beaches that line the island’s west side coasts. Along the island’s northern side, adventurous tourists can explore lush cypress forests and rocky beaches.
Travelers can also discover Čiovo’s rich heritage by venturing to the number of cultural monuments found throughout the island. These historical sites include churches, an old Franciscan convent, a Dominican monastery complex, and variety of stunning paintings, jewellery, and even crowns.
Čiovo is served by the nearby Split airport in Kastela, only a 6km drive from the island. There are a number of transportation options to bring tourists to their hostel or hotel in Čiovo, including shuttle services, car rentals, or taxis. Passenger ferries are also available, but unfortunately for drivers, there is no car ferry service to Čiovo.
