While Dangriga is considered one of the largest cities in Belize, the town itself is quite sleepy. As you walk down the main street, you will find that many of the locals will stop to talk to you, ask you where you are from, and want to have a chat. They are super friendly and it adds to the charm of the place.
Down the main street, you will find all of the major things that you may need during your stay in Dangriga, including cash machines, supermarkets, and medical supplies. The bus station is also on the main street, a little bit back from the main shops; it is here that you can catch transport heading south to Punta Gorda or north to Belize City.
Your options for hostels in Dangriga are limited, but you will be located on one of the off streets to the main road toward the beach. Nearby, there is a playground where the kids play soccer and hang out and it is a good place to sit and people watch.
There is one museum that you can go visit here but for the most part, Dangriga doesn't have a great deal going on with typical tourist attractions. However if you want to get involved with the locals and learn about the Garifuna culture, then this is the place for you. Just hang out and go for a walk along the main street and you will be surprised at the people that you meet and the things that you can find to do with your afternoon.
