Majorca (also known as Mallorca, the Spanish spelling of the island), is the largest island in the Balearic Islands archipelago, located in the Mediterranean Sea. Other islands in the region include Minorca, Ibiza, and Fomenter. All these islands are popular holiday destinations, especially for people from Britain and Germany. The beaches are what makes Majorca such a popular holiday destination; they are white and sandy, and the water is an amazing, crystal-blue colour. People speak a type of Catalan language, and usually also Spanish -- it’s worth learning a few words in both languages; however, most people also know some English, German, and French.
There are a lot of accommodation options on the island, including resorts, hotels, camping, villa rentals, guesthouses, and hostels in Majorca. There is something for every budget. The hostels are of a high standard. If you are traveling in the peak season (European summer, from June to September), it is worth booking in advance, as places book up quickly. Most accommodation will include entertainment, swimming pools, tourist information and information of attractions, shuttle services and tours. Accommodation is usually located on the coast, in walking distance to many beaches and restaurants and shops.
