The Location
PubLove @ The Green man has an excellent location in central London, close by the Edgware Road underground station as well as within walking distance of Paddington train station for airport connections and longer rail trips out of London. The hostel’s central location near Paddington means that guests are spoilt for choice of places to shop, eat, and drink, including supermarkets.
As the name hints, the hostel is co-located with The Green Man pub, as part of the PubLove hostel brand. While the pub noise doesn’t tend to seep up to the rooms upstairs, the hostel is on a busy street corner for traffic, so earplugs are recommended for a better night’s sleep. Reception for check-in is at the bar counter, with staff available twenty-four hours a day.
Rooms and Bathrooms
This is a small hostel of nine rooms, with varying configurations of dorm beds ranging from three to nine beds across mixed and female options. The triple bunk beds on offer are comfortable enough, but can tend to shake with the movements of those sharing them, and there is not enough room to sit up in bed. The new bedding of comfortable white quilts and pillows were welcome. There are also power outlets at each bed, though there are no bed lights. There are handy stools, wall hangings, and exposed brick for an added funky touch.
For security, there is a pin code to access the hostel from the pub, with separate pin codes for each room. There are both large and small lockers in the rooms for use with your own padlocks or with hired locks from reception.
Note that hostel rooms are upstairs on the second and third level of the building, without elevator access.
The shared bathrooms are unisex, including a shower room of three cubicles with good screens and large shower heads, though limited space to dress after showering. Towels are not provided but can be rented for a fee.
Free Wi-Fi works well throughout the pub area and dorm rooms.
Common Spaces
With a focus on its pub business, there isn’t a kitchen available or food storage area for guest use during their stay. Instead, hostel guests do receive a discount on pub food and drinks, including brunch. The common area for hanging out is in the pub itself, which can fill up in the evenings with a mix of public and guests. This is great for visitors looking to socialise; however, if you prefer to chill out with a quieter atmosphere in the evening, you’ll need to retreat to the dorm rooms.
Summary
While a pub hostel does have its quirks -- such as having to wait for staff to finish pulling pints before you can check-in at the bar, and no space for the usual tourist brochures and helpful arrival info -- PubLove @ The Green man hostel offers clean, good value accommodation in recently updated facilities for those keen to explore central London for themselves.

Our rooms are cleaned daily, with an In room security locker for each guest to use. Rooms are secured with swipe card access keys, allowing you to come and go as you please whilst ensuring your room is secure.
There are shared bathroom, toilet and shower facilities on each floor which are kept clean and tidy by our dedicated staff to ensure they are fresh 24/7.
