Good atmosphere
This is a classical hostel. The best is that it is close to the main train station and bus station and also very close to a airport bus stop. So this hostel is perfect if you have to take a train very early in the morning. The city center is 10 minutes walking from here.

Avantgarde Hostel is a large, modern establishment. It is one of the closest hostel from Wroclaw main train station, only two hundred meters away. The Location To get to the hostel, walk out of the main train station entrance and go straight to the road. Turn left and walk along this road (Marsz. Pilsudskiego) to the very first junction. There, turn right onto Kollataja. Follow this road on the left hand pavement and, at the second road on your left, you will the see "Avantgarde Hostel" painted in large letters and indicating you to turn left into a rather dark alleyway. Don't worry, a bright light switches on automatically as you approach. From the Airport bus stop (bus 406, stop Dworcowa, the last stop, named after the street it is on), when you get off the bus, backtrack the way the bus came from and take the first road left (Kosciuszki) and follow it for two junctions, crossing Kollataja. You will find the hostel on your left immediately after crossing. The airport bus costs only a small amount and runs about twice an hour. It takes only about thirty minutes to get to or from the airport. The hostel is conveniently located very close to the train station, but this is not a very lively neighbourhood, there are no pubs or restaurants around, except for a pizza joint and an expensive palace show-dinner place. The walk into the old town of Wroclaw and its entertainment takes fifteen minutes and is safe to walk during the evening or night. There is an excellent bakery nearby where you can sit in and have a hot beverage with a delicious pastry or you can pick up a salad and tasty cheesecake for your train journey. Rooms and Bathrooms The rooms are large airy dorms, with a maximum of six or seven beds. There is a table and chairs and mirror, but no lockers and no bedside lamp. The IKEA-style bunk beds sag in the middle and are squeaky, the mattresses are on the thin side, but the covers are nice and warm. It is modernly decorated with bright colours. The bathrooms can be quite inconvenient, especially the one on the second floor, right hand aisle, because the accordion-type door leaves gaps when closed and people can see glimpses of you from the outside. It also blocks off one of the toilets because it is sort of a "walk through" shower room. The bathroom floor can be full of hair, but apart from that it's clean. The water is hot but with limited water pressure. Towels are available for free. There is no soap holder but there are hooks for your clothes and towel. Common Spaces The English-speaking staff are qualified and helpful. You will find free maps and advice here. The key to your room is left at the reception and twenty-four-hour reception staff buzzes you in. The common areas consist of a small living room furnished with comfy sofas and coffee table, a TV, and free internet PC. There is also a kitchen with sandwich maker, kettle, fridge, and one single six-seat dining table. For the number of beds this hostel has, you can easily imagine the common spaces being overcrowded. Free wireless internet too. No breakfast, no book exchange. Bikes in good condition are available for rent at reception. Summary All in all, Avantgarde Hostel is a large institution where meeting people can be a bit difficult seeing the small size of common areas. It has easy access to the trains and airport bus but the neighbourhood lacks livelihood. There are huge student discounts on presentation of the student card. The excellent bakery nearby is definitely a plus, whether you stay here or not.
